Stuck at Home? Things to do While in Self-Isolation

With many of you aficionados staying indoors during this pandemic, it has become even more important to find activities to pass the time. Whether that is simply looking after your humidor, restocking Cuban Cigars or just reading a few books – there are plenty of activities that you can do. Read to find out more:

LOOK AFTER YOUR HUMIDOR

As an aficionado, one of the best things you can do while stuck indoors is to check up on your Cigar Humidors. If you have an extensive collection of cigars, then it is imperative you do regular maintenance. As you know, humidors are essential to keeping your beloved smokes fresh, as well as supporting the ageing process. Some of the best humidors include the S.T. Dupont Humidor and the Partagas Global Humidor, as they provide a moisture-absorbent build as well as having in-built hygrometers and humidifiers. But these components need to be upkeeped. In our blog, “How to Maintain Your Cigar Humidor” we discuss how important it is to monitor the humidification levels, ensuring that the components are refilled, and the hygrometer is correctly calibrated. If you fail to check this, then you will totally defeat the purpose of owning a humidor as you may be left with dried out smokes.

REPLENISH YOUR STOCK

Now that you’re spending countless hours at home, you will have more time to yourself, and therefore, more time to smoke a few Cubans! However, this means that your collection of smokes will deplete at a faster rate. To ensure you don't run out on smokes, do stock up on cigars. Choose a variety of shapes, colours and editions so that you have enough to keep you satisfied for the next few weeks. Perhaps, choose a classic favourite like the Partagas Serie D No. 4 Cigar, or maybe grab a few special editions like the Punch La Isla Cigar (Ex. Cuba 2018). Undoubtedly, it is going to be much more challenging to visit your local tobacconist to buy cigars, whether it is because of travel restrictions or shops closing. But no fear, there are many online sites such as ours, that will continue shipping cigars globally.

READ A BOOK

Books are a fantastic way to pass the time. Reading allows you to immerse yourself, learn new things and even change your perspective. There is a wide range of books for you to choose from, there's self-development, literary classics, history, educational – literally anything you can think of. For cigar-lovers, you may enjoy reading the books by Zino Davidoff, with his most popular publication being The Connoisseur’s Book of the Cigar (1969), a charming homage to cigars, smoking and etiquette. Another recommendation we have is Nicholas Foulke’s Cigars: A Guide, providing an intriguing history of tobacco. During this time of self-isolation, it's perfect to focus on yourself and take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

REDECORATE YOUR SPACE

Being stuck at home presents the perfect opportunity to get organised and perhaps even rearrange your surroundings. Now that you're spending a lot more time inside your home, it is obligatory that you should ensure that your living space is clean, but you may also decide to spruce things up a little bit. One of the best ways to start creating the space you love is by making your own special cigar room. Fill it up with Cigar Ashtrays, humidors or even some cutters. What is better than having your own space to fire up your favourite smokes? If you don't have a specially designated room for this, you can always dedicate a space within the house where you can smoke.
